Participating as a chief guest in the 29th convocation of Acharya Nagarjuna University at Deichmann and S John David Auditorium on Tuesday, he said everyone should remain as a student throughout his life and keep updating his knowledge. This process helps achieve growth in life. Knowledge grows when it is shared, he said.

Expressing concern over weakening of friendly bond between people with the advent of satellite television channels, he urged students to meet their friends and teachers at least once a year.

University Vice-Chancellor V Balamohan Das presided over the programme.
Honorary doctorates were presented to Sri Sri Ravishankar, Dr Yarlagadda Nayudamma, Minister for Municipal Administration Koneru Ranga Rao, Ghazal singer Srinivas and Nagarjuna Constructions chairman Alluri Venkata Satyanarayana Raju.

Gold medals were presented to 115 meritorious students at the convocation. In his address, Balamohan Das said efforts were on to make the university a centre of excellence. Steps were taken to promote curricular, extracurricular and research activities in the university.

About 440 colleges, including 273 degree, 16 PG, eight oriental, 12 autonomous, five law, nine engineering, 23 pharmacy, three hotel management and 103 education colleges, are affiliated to the university.
